14 - Heads think departmentally not organisationally

In this story the objective of Mental Athletics Programme and [email protected] was improving business creativity and motivation Corporately, not simply Departmentally. But David was employed by the IT department, not a groupwide department. His head, Bill Grumpy thought no further than his own patch. And he wanted changes to MAP -he started his attack by saying the humour was inappropriate! But that would be just the beginning. David had two choices to protect MAP - he could bow down to pressure or fight.Our creativity terrorist fought . . .

I've no problem at all with the content. The only feedback I have received is positive and as such I am happy to work on the basis 'if it a'int broke, don't fix it'.

But Bill Grumpy wasn't the sort of person who would take no for an answer. He despatched his lieutenant Tracey to get it sorted. Tracey was quite a nasty piece of work. All smiles on the outside but not a nice person.  "this won't do your career any good" she promised. David's initial idea of positioning it with Archimedes proved useful . . .

The Mental Athletics Programme is part of the Archimedes web site and not part of IT. I update it for Sunita. I have contacted her on removing the humour section and she has replied:

I can't find a joke related to after dinner speeches. Maybe it went? If there are other specific jokes that you feel is distasteful let me know and I will remove it

However, even though the site was protected from extinction, its sole updating resource (David) worked for IT. Tracey gleefully told David he would be reassigned.
